Kathmandu:

The House of Petals International in association with Pahiran Fashion Studio and Take Care organised a Monsoon Mela at Hotel Yak and Yeti on August 27. A total of 28 stalls were put up exhibiting all kinds of clothes, bags, slippers, jewellery, cosmetics, sculptures made of clay, furniture, handicrafts and branded perfumes. The Mela being a promotional event, some of the NGOs and locally run cottage industries that need to be promoted were given an opportunity to exhibit their products in the fete at a minimum charge.

Kavita Agrawal, one of the organisers of the event, said, “Our concept behind the show is to make the first move organising this kind of exhibition and fashion show by bringing all the local designers altogether so that they get the opportunity to showcase their products and at the same time get connected to the buyers.”

The one-day event ended with a fashion show of the various products and creative designs of the exhibitors. There were altogether seven sequences covering clothes made from Dhaka fabric, Indian kurtis, a mixed show having all kinds of designs from kurtis to western gowns, dresses prepared from handloom material of Bhaktapur, Pashmina products, sarees and, to make an amusing ending, the last round was a dog show in which dogs walked along with the models showcasing doggy dresses made especially for them.
