KATHMANDU: After successfully performing in Birtamode and Dharan, Nepathya, Nepal's premier folk-rock band, captivated Butwal audience with its trademark folk-rock music during four-city-tour as part of silver jubilee celebration, on Monday.

While performing at the ANFA Technical Institute, Nepathya's frontman, legendary singer and social activist, Amrit Gurung said, "Kaski, where I belong and Butwal, traditionally known as Batauli, have an old tie. He then went on to sing -

Yanimaya--Uhile Uhile Kaski Janda Yani Maya

Yanimaya Dekhen Baidam Taala Yani Maya

Yanimaya-Batauli ko Bazaarama Yani Maya

Yanimaya-Kati Kinnu Chura ra Dhago Yani Maya

After reciting the line, he sang Nepathya's travel-based song -- Salaijo. This song perhaps originated from the hills north of Butwal and covers a travel log Gurung had penned during his trek though Gulmi district.

As the show went on, the band performed their classic hits songs -- Chhekyo Chheyko, Jomsome Bazaar, Resham to Mai Mari Jaunla along with their recent releases Koshi ko Paani and Sirjula.

Addressing the audience Amrit Gurung said, "We are the people and we are the power. We have elected a stable government and we expect them to deliver as per the people's mandate. I urge the parties in power to deliver and not disappoint the public. Else the public will rise again."

He then went on to sing Gaun Gaun Bata Utha before wrapping up the Butwal show. The concert in Butwal was organised by Yes Nepal, a local event management group.

After Butwal show, Nepathya's concert entourage will head far-west to Dhangadhi to perform on November 29, the band said.
