Across three cities in Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto
KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 20
Nepal's famous folk-rock band Nepathya, is all set to embark on it's maiden musical tour to Canada in October.
Issuing a statement today, Nepalaya, the band's management company, said the band will entertain Nepali diaspora in Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto.
The band will kick-off its first-ever Canada tour from Calgary at 'De Palace Theatre' on October 1, heads to Vancouver to perform at 'De Vogue Theatre' on October 4 before concluding the tour at 'Massey Hall' in Toronto on October 8.
Just two months ago, when the schedule for Nepathya's concert was announced through social media, Canadian-Nepali author Manjushree Thapa, who has made Canada her home, expressed her happiness, saying, "The news of Nepathya coming brings some warmth. In the midst of Maoist turmoil and extreme despair, Nepathya communicated hope through their music, making them forever beloved."
Giving continuation of the band's slogan 'Music for Humanity' for the promotion of humanity campaign in 2023, Canada tour will move ahead under the same campaign, Nepalaya said in statement.
"For us, Canada is not just a new destination; it's a place where Nepali residents have expressed their excitement to see us. We will be standing on the stage with a feeling of representing our homeland during Dashain and receiving abundant love," says Amrit Gurung, the band's vocalist and frontman.
Well-wishers residing in Canada have communicated their enthusiasm for the band's arrival through social media. Amrit acknowledges the messages he has received, saying, "Some fans have formed groups and made long-distance travel plans from one city to another, making the effort to attend our concerts. This is an extra motivation for us," reads the statement.
The concert will start sharp at 7:00pm and gates will open two hours prior to concert.
Tickets and further information can be obtained from Nepathya's official website www.nepathya.com.np and their social media pages. Special discounts to students have been arranged at all the concerts during the tour, according to the statement.
As usual Amrit will be joined on stage by Dhruv Lama on drums, Suraj Thapa on keyboards, Subin Shakya on bass guitar, Niraj Gurung on lead guitar, and Shanti Rayamajhi on madal.
So far, Nepathya has performed 78 concerts in 28 cities of 16 different countries. Canada will be their 17th destination.
In recent times, Canada has become an attractive destination for Nepalis, especially for higher studies, leading to an increase in the number of Nepali students.
