KATHMANDU, APRIL 14

Nepal's renowned folk-rock band, Nepathya, ushered in the New Year of 2081 with a mesmerizing concert in Birtamode on Friday.

The band initiated the long-awaited performance with their hit song "Koshi ko pani yo jindagini," derived from the eastern region of Nepal.

As the show progressed, the band delighted the packed audience with their other sensational hit songs, including 'Veda ko unn jasto' and 'Chekyo Chekyo', among others.

Nepathya's vocalist, Amrit Gurung, interacted between the songs, extending best wishes for the New Year 2081 to all Nepalis around the world. He also reached out his hand towards the audience, expressing, "May tomorrow's sunshine from the eastern horizon bring happiness and peace to all of our lives."

During Friday's concert, Amrit performed songs collected from as far as the eastern to western regions. To witness the event, spectators from the neighboring Indian settlements, as distant as Sikkim and Bhutan's Jaygaon, had arrived.

The concert concluded with a stirring rendition of the Nepali national anthem, "Rato ra chandra surya."

In the concert, Amrit was accompanied by Dhruv Lama on drums, Subin Shakya on bass guitar, Niraj Gurung on guitar, Shanti Rayamajhi on madal, and Dinesh Raj Regmi on keyboard.
