KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 27
Nepalaya is set to commemorate singer Phatteman in this month's Paleti at the "r" sala hall in Kathmandu on November 28 and 29.
Issuing a statement today, Nepalaya said, "Coincidentally, the event falls on Friday, November 28, which also marks the singer's birthday."
Musician Abhas, who shared a long association with the legandry singer, will deliver an essay reflecting on the singer's life and contributions. Speaking about the choice of focus, Abhas, the programme coordinator, said, "I had a long association with brother Phatteman. There are many memories connected to him that must be preserved and cherished over time. Moreover, this year's Paleti coincides with his birthday, so we decided to commemorate him through his songs."
He added, "This programme is also an expression of our affection for brother Phatteman. Though he is no longer with us physically, he lives on through his creations."
Nepalaya's association with Phatteman began in 2002, when it organized "An Evening with Singer Fatteman" on August 10, marking the singer's very first solo performance. The event, held at the current Parliament building, was musically coordinated by Abhas, according to the statement.
Paleti, a short-format musical programme, has been running since 2005. Over the years, Phatteman performed solo at Paleti on three separate occasions. This year, over a dozen of Phatteman's songs will be performed, meticulously rehearsed by the Paleti team over the past week.
The programme will take place on Friday, November 28, and Saturday, November 29, at Nepalaya's "r" sala hall in Kalikasthan. Tickets are available online at www.paleti.com.np, the statement added.
