PICK OF THE WEEK: Lost parrot squawks its way home

A lost parrot has been reunited with its owners in Japan after squawking out his name and address to a vet. The red-tailed African Grey, called Yosuke, was rescued from a roof and taken to the vets after he flew out of his cage two weeks ago and got lost.

At first he refused to say anything, but before long he was singing songs and saying, “I’m Mr Yosuke Nakamura”. Yosuke also told vets his full address, just as his owners had taught him to, so he could be whisked back home. The African Grey parrot is thought to be one of the most intelligent birds in the world, with lots of experts thinking they can be as clever as a six-year-old in some ways.
