Playing for a cause

Kathmandu:

The music was soulful and every performance was greeted with rounds of applause. The talented children, danced with their pom poms and batons to the stirring tunes of the flute without missing a single step making the audience sit up and take notice. It was a well-synchronised concert by Mahoroba Koteki band of the Mahoroba Social Service, which was organised at the Nepal Academy Hall on April 21.

Children — both Nepali and Japanese — playing flute, drums, repercussion, keyboard and xylophone created music of all kinds from traditional Japanese to western or some to some of our own Nepali numbers taught by a couple from Japan. Especially the duet on the flute played by a couple kept lingering long after the show was over. The dance performance by the girls of Boudha Secondary English School on the tunes of ever famous Resham phiriri and Rato tika made all the audience go gaga.

All in all it was an entertaining show. The proceeds of the event will be donated to Mahoraba Social Service.
