Kathmandu:
This is a new approach to art,” commented Govinda Dangol, Lalitkala campus chief, proudly after seeing conceptual exhibition by Saroj Kushwaha titled ‘Here You Are!’ at Nepal Art Council Gallery, Babermahal. Kushwaha is a third year student of bachelor level in his college. “He is young and has massive potential of creativity. We should encourage him,” he added.
This ‘conceptual exhibition’ has put together installations, paintings, poem and music at a time. The room is set in such a way that a visitor could feel they are experiencing their own life before their eyes.
The same music piece goes on till you the end but the paintings and installations keep on changing. In the doorway a visitor is given a flower, “To me it is symbolises life,” said Dongol. The flower has to be offered on an installation of a corpse.
“Installations are temporary but it is a strong means of expression,” said Surendra Raj Bhattarai, another art teacher of Kushwaha.
The paintings, poems and installations are so imaginative, which essentially are the inner human feelings. “There is nothing that inspired me to do this work. You find these moments in your life.
Art is but selective representation of life lived and experiences and feelings explored,” Kushwaha says. The exhibition is on till 22 March.
