Presenters’ list grows
HOLLYWOOD: Former James Bond star Sean Connery, incumbent Pierce Brosnan and Hollywood luminaries Jamie Lee Curtis and Francis Ford Coppola have joined the cast of Oscar presenters for Oscars. Also signing up to hand out golden guys in a last-minute rush of stars were last year’s best actor winner Adrien Brody, outspoken actor and current best supporting actor nominee Alec Baldwin, actor Nicolas Cage and ‘Spider-Man’ star Tobey Maguire, ‘Lost in Translation’ star Scarlett Johansson, ‘Lord of The Rings’ wizard Sir Ian McKellen, actor Ben Stiller, ‘Rings’ elf Liv Tyler, ‘Matrix’ star Jada Pinkett Smith and actors Owen Wilson.
Last year’s best supporting actor winner Chris Cooper will also present, along with Queen Latifah, actor John Cusack and Diane Lane. The stars join Uma Thurman, John Travolta, best supporting actor nominee Tim Robbins, his partner Susan Sarandon and Sandra Bullock.
Naomi Watts, nominated as best actress this year for ‘21 Grams’ will also hand an Oscar, as will Angelina Jolie, and Sofia Coppola. The presence of Francis Ford Coppola, Sofia and her cousin Nicolas Cage on stage will make the awards show a Coppola family affair.
Also handing out awards are Julia Roberts, Tom Cruise, Renee Zellweger, Julianne Moore, Charlize Theron, Robin Williams, Jim Carrey, Jude Law, Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, Colin Farrell, Will Smith and Oprah Winfrey. — AFP
