Recalling the year gone by
Another academic year (2006/07) is about to come to an end. It seems like yesterday that our school reopened for the new academic year. I remember I had been late for school on the first day, and I found that my section had been changed. So there were many new faces in my class. I spotted a few of my friends from last year’s class, and sat beside one of them.
A teacher walked into the class and told us that he was our science as well as our class teacher. He was a new teacher. We found out that except for our English II teacher, all our (Class VIII) other teachers were new.
Initially I didn’t find my Class VIII days very exciting. However, as time passed, we (classmates) started opening to each other and in no time I was friends with all my classmates. I started enjoying every moment of school.
As our classroom was far from the staff room, we used to make a lot of noise. All the teachers used to complain that our class was too noisy. Joking in class, laughing, playing pranks became almost a daily routine for us.
We made our teachers sing and dance on Teachers’ Day. On Children’s Day, our Nepali and English II teachers sang for us, which was superb. A few of my friends also danced and sang.
Class VIII students had extra language classes, and our section got a chance to learn German language.
The year has passed and only a month remains to be spent in the company of my friends of Class VIII. We have our district-level examination soon. I will miss our Nepali and social studies teachers’ jokes, and the five-minute meditation conducted by our English II teacher. Sometimes HPE teacher had to remind us to keep our class clean and tidy. Our class teacher did not limit himself to the course book, but added to our knowledge with interesting scientific events. Our Math teacher and English I Ma’m were very caring and loving.
Although we have not ended our noisy chatter, I believe all teachers enjoyed being with us. I’d like to thank all of them for their love, care and their effort in making us good students.
