Resolutions with a difference
The first month of 2007 is almost over and I still hear people talking about their New Year resolutions. It looks like the the new-year buzz has not yet calmed down.
Every new year brings new hopes and desires, new dreams and resolutions. The most common resolutions I often hear of is — ‘I shall lose weight’, ‘I shall quit smoking’ or ‘I shall stop late night partying’. Well, obviously, people care more for themselves than anyone else. Did you notice the number of I’s?
The least common resolutions heard are — ‘I’ll save a part of my salary to donate to some old homes or orphanages’, or ‘I’ll support a poor child’, or ‘I’ll donate a certain amount of my allowance or pocket money’...
Why is it that we always think of only ourselves? Why can’t we spare even a small part of what we have for those who are less fortunate than us? I believe that a joint effort of ours (even if its a small one) towards the under-privileged can bring much difference in their lives.
Visiting old homes or taking care of a patient or just spending some time with a sick child will surely make their day. What a disappointment it must have been for God on New Year to see so many selfish people around and so less selfless ones.
Think about it, the month of January is over but everyday brings new opportunities, inspirations and aspirations. If you really want to make a difference, why wait for the New Year? Why not start today?? I have, will you? A happy life to all !
