Room for toys and treasures
Kathmandu:
Children love to have a room of their own where they can have lots of toys everywhere on the floor and hide their little treasures. Few years ago, children lived in their parents’ room or with their elder siblings, but now more and more of them are getting their own rooms. Now people love to decorate their children’s room even before they are born. Before jumping into decorating an adorable little room, excited parents should consider some important things.
•The room should be located in an area where a lot of natural light comes in.
•Safety first. The furniture should not have sharp corners or materials made of glass that could easily break. Simple furniture like a wardrobe, bed, study desk, and a corner for toys is enough to keep any child happy. No clunky sofas are necessary.
•Have the entrance door latch very high so that children can’t lock themselves in the room.
•Do not keep plants in the room; it will bring in uninvited insects.
•Make the room as convenient as possible for the children’s use. Children’s furniture should not be very high as it’s not practical for their use.
•Make it as playful and fun as possible. Add lots of bright colours and fun figures like Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse.
•Place all the furniture all along the walls and leave the middle of the room wide open for the children to play in. Do not place furniture near entrances or exits where the children can easily trip.
•Add a soft carpet on the floor with underlying to keep it well cushioned.
•Don’t store away toys; it won’t look like a child’s room if the toys are stored away. Keep the toys right in front of children’s eyes where they can pick them up any time and play with them.
•Most importantly, make the room look and have the feel of the child’s taste. Make them feel like it’s their room and their belongings.
