Save power, save Earth
KATHMANDU: The ever-changing world with global warming at its crux needs to be dealt with and handled properly and effectively. Like every year Gorkha Brewery is geared up to support the Earth Hour this year as well.
The initiation of Earth Hour took place in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for an hour in Sydney. A year after that, the initiative became a global sustainability movement with 50 million people switching off the lights.
Global landmarks such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, The CN Tower in Toronto, The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and Rome’s Colosseum, all stood in darkness as symbols of hope for a cause that grows more urgent by the hour.
Earth Hour 2010 is scheduled for March 27 from 8:30 pm and is a global call for action to every individual, every business house and every community throughout the world.
Gorkha Brewery has pledged its support for the cause of the Earth. The company’s website will go blank during the day leading to Earth Hour. All non-essential lights will be turned off from 8:30-9:30 pm, while the company’s employees wore black on March 26 in support of Earth Hour.
