SCHOOL TIMES : A learning experience

It was a cold morning on November 26 when our team of nine students along with our Head Teacher Kapu Adhikari, set out for our journey to Lucknow. We went to participate in the 10th International Convention on Students’ Quality Control Circles (ICSQCC) that was held from November 28 to December 1, 2007. After a tiring journey of two days, we reached our destination, City Montessori School and Degree College in Lucknow, where the event was organised. The main theme of ICSQCC, 2007 was, ‘QCCs in Education — An Initiative to Develop Total Qua-lity Person’. More than 2000 students from 18 countries participated in the event. The categories were — case study presentation, paper presentation, skit, debate, quality quiz, collage, poster and slogan making, et cetera.

We participated in case study presentation, debate, quality quiz, collage, poster and slogan making. The competition was tough and we really learnt a lot but we couldn’t bag any individual prizes in any of the categories. Nevertheless, our hard work and sincerity

paid off and we were awarded the ‘Most Co-operative Team Award’. We also participated in the cultural programme; all nine of us performed an instrumental piece Simsime panima during which we wore various ethnic attires of Nepal.

The support from the Nepali crowd was awesome. Besides that, we went for sightseeing during which we visited the Bada and Chhota Imambara, Bhoolbhulaiya Palace and a Residency in Lucknow. It was a really great learning experience.
