SCHOOL TIMES : Boon of good health

Good health is a boon. It is a precious gift of nature. Only a healthy person can lead a happy and successful life. A sick person, however rich he may be, cannot have a meaningful life.

A person is healthy if s/he doesn’t suffer from any illness in body, mind and spirit. A healthy person has a lot of stamina. Disease and sickness make life miserable. Good health is like morning sunshine, mellow and embracing. It gives comfort and happiness. Sound health is far better than a thousand gifts. To maintain good health we have to observe certain rules. When we get ill we should take medicines and get cured. But prevention is better than cure. Good health prevents sickness.

To keep fit and healthy, we must have proper diet and nutrition. Lacking these is one of the chief causes of poor health. Our diet should be planned and we should have a balanced diet. Balanced diet contains required vitamins, proteins, carbohydrates, fats and minerals. Further, we must live a clean and hygienic life. Proper rest and work are also necessary for keeping the body fit and healthy.

We must take regular physical exercise according to our age. Exercises in the open air like running, swimming, climbing is good for the young. Jogging and walking is good for the elderly. Certain yogas and breathing exercises can help in maintaining a radiant healthy, happy and fruitful life.

Good health is the foundation of all our meaningful activities.
