SCHOOL TIMES : Get set go for exams

Examinations are a part of a student’s life. Everyone has to work a lot to pass exams and

get promoted. It determines how much a student has worked and how much s/he has been concentrating during the class hours.

When examinations are near, everyone studies really hard, putting their hearts and minds into their course books.

If there were no exams, then there would be no way to find out whether a student has understood what has been taught and whether the efforts of teachers have paid off. During examinations some students get tense, they do not eat or take breaks. They only want to study. But this is a bad practice. This happens when the student studies at the last minute.

If a student studies for about three hours every day, then there would be no pressure during the exams. But students should also be focused. They can also make a timetable. This way they can cover their courses easily.

While sitting for an examination, students must read their questions carefully as they can make mistakes by giving the wrong answers to similar questions. Students should also be aware of the exam schedule.

Students should eat a healthy diet. No one can afford to get sick during examinations. It is okay to watch their favourite programmes for recreation, but it should be limited to a certain time.

Some students take examinations as punishment. But students should look at the brighter side. They should give it their best shot and get good grades. It makes the students aware of his/her weakness and gives an opportunity to improve on it.

But there are also demerits that come along with examinations. The same exam cannot evaluate all students. Examinations give students fear and even mental tension. Teachers will have a tough time handling students with exam-phobia. And while evaluating, a teacher can be biased.

Despite such demerits, exams are an essential part of the learning process. Hence, exams should be conducted periodically.
