SCHOOL TIMES : Good old days
The one-hour bus ride I take from Bouddha to Modern Indian School at Chobar is something that I enjoy immensely. The pristine air at the early hour of morning takes me to another world — away from the bus and even my schoolmates.
When the bus reaches Jayabageshwori, the road that leads to Young Hearts Boarding High School evoke memories of the twelve wonderful years I had spent there. Someone rightly said that school life is a precious and divine gift bestowed upon us. Likewise, it’s amazing how vividly I can recapture each and every single moment spent at Young Hearts.
The hostel life, the school canteen and the homely environment were a part of me. Now it’s only past memories. Not to forget the friends, brothers and sisters I encountered during my marvellous school life.
It is kind of astonishing how everybody knew each other and could even call you by your hostel number. The pictures taken during different occasions like teacher’s day, children’s day, school fete, social nite and the farewell programme organised for our batch, show me how much we had enjoyed ourselves to the fullest. And who can forget the tough time we had while preparing for the so called the iron gate of our academic life — SLC.
I never thought I would
rejoice at the memory of lining up at the Principal’s office for not doing the assignment on time or for that matter kneeling down on the school ground for being late for the roll call.
However, I will always treasure the valuable experience I had as a prefect, then as a school captain. I got this rare opportunity to learn the ABC’s of responsibility, leadership and teamwork. I truly think I won’t be able to repay the love, support and the
financial aid Young Hearts has provided me throughout my school life.
But now I am here in the bus staring out of the window and reflecting back on those pleasant days at Young Hearts. It is at times like this that I wish I could possess a time turner, just like Hermione (Emma Watson) does in the film Harry Potter and the prisoners of Azkaban.
