SCHOOL TIMES : The mystery

Mysterious lights flash through the sky. A strange looking craft hovers over a field...

Military radar picks up something that travels faster than any known aircraft... What can this be? A UFO?

Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) is the reported sightings of an object or light seen in the sky

or on land, whose appearance trajectory, action, motions, lights and colours do not have a logical, conventional or natural explanation and which cannot be explained.

No one knows what they actually are. All information regarding ‘UFO’ are based on account

of witnesses. Witnesses all over the world report thousands of encounters which they think might be related to UFOs.

Most sightings after a close inspection turn out to be human error like seeing a airplane or birds or have other earthly explanation. In fact 95 per cent of such sightings turn out to be human error.

A time of extraordinary numbers of UFO sightings is known as a ‘wave’ or ‘flap’. According to UFO experts, waves have occurred in 1947, 1952, 1966, 1973, and 1986-87. It is often noticed that UFO sightings occur around 9:00 pm or 3:00 am and peak during the month of July.

Are UFOs piloted by aliens from across the universe? Or are they just airplanes? The mystery remains. — Aditya Acharya, Class IX, GEMS
