Sensations for your eves

Kathmandu :

Yes, the Yak and Yeti has opened and with ‘Seven Sensations’.

That’s what they’ve named their evenings at The Pub.

“We believe that the hotel outlet has to be happening, therefore, every 15 days we try to bring a twist in our regular service,” says Surendra Chand Thakuri, marketing and communications manager of the hotel.

Seven Sensations is a tribute to seven genres of music. To match the musical mood of the evenings, the drinks and snacks have been selected with much care. From a collection of about 50 cocktails and 25 mocktails (some of which are their bartenders’ own creations), they have a special menu for each day. Even the dress code for the bartenders and table layout are different for each day to complement the themes.

You can start your evening with the ‘Lovers Choice’ on Sunday and listen to Yanni’s renditions and The Confluence of santoor and piano, while you sip Lady in Red (strawberry martini) or a Pina Colada and munch on some Shrimp Satay with Pineapple Salsa.

Mondays are ‘Blues’ at The Pub, but you can beat your Monday blues with a Nuclear Fantasy and some Brocolli Casserole while Diana Krall croons with Sarah Vaughan in the background.

The ‘Countryside’ gets its own interpretation on Tuesdays. While you sing along with Shania Twain or hum Islands in the streams (Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton), have a blast with the Planter’s Punch and chew on some Spicy Cajun Toast.

‘Jazz’ up your Wednesdays with the Naked Martini or French Kiss, while Louis Amstrong pulls on your heart strings. It’s Thursday and the weekend’s almost here. So baby, ‘Rock n Roll’ to Tom Jones and some Jungle Juice.

What’s a Friday without letting your hair down to ‘Latino’ (Salsa) beats and everyone’s favourite Tequila Sunrise with Tortilla Chips and Spicy Tomato Salsa.

‘House’ Saturday is all about enjoying 100 per cent Travelling with Paul Oakenfold. Well, you can choose from Yeti’s Amrit or Everest Icefall or Yeti’s Smile or Yak’s tail to get your spirits high. Even the snacks are desi — Aaloo Tareko, Mutton Chhoela and Chicken Momo.

The drinks menu is categorised as ‘Spiked’ and ‘Under 18’. So, you know.

We’ve given you seven ways on ‘how put some life into your evenings’, so if you’re bored any evening this week, it’s not our fault.

(The Pub is open from 12 noon to 11pm, and enjoy Seven Sensations till August 28)
