Short and sweet

KATHMANDU: Short films made by young and upcoming filmmakers under the theme ‘You Are No Exception’ as a part of a competition organised by USAID’s private sector programme N-MARC were screened at Khula Manch on October 20. The eight short films, each only seven or eight minutes long, dealt with issues concerning HIV/AIDS and with the message of spreading awareness about condom use.

How people from different parts of the country and different sectors of society, be it a bus driver or a labourer who goes to a foreign country for employment, to well educated young guys and girls in the city, and even gods, no one is spared by this dreaded disease has been showcased in these short films along with the precautions that one can use to protect oneself from being affected.

The movies are quite interesting and informative, some quite serious while some have a little bit of humour injected into them giving the films a realistic touch. Well-known actors like Gauri Malla, Nir Shah, Melina Manandhar, Raj Ballav Koirala, Deepak Raj Giree, Arunima Lamsal, Namrata Shrestha, Saugat Malla, Vinay Shrestha and others have aso acted in these short films.
