Skin care: Starting early
KATHMANDU: Girls in their 20s often think that they need not follow any regime for their skin care. But it’s when you reach your late 20s that you realise the damage that has been done to your complexion. So as they say ‘better late than never’ here are few very simple and easy things that will help you keep your skin fresh and prevent those damages.
Use gentle products and focus on damage prevention. At this age you do not need antiwrinkle creams.
Cleanser
If you have normal skin, you can wash your face before bed. Go for mild cleanser — gel-based works best for oily complexion, while for milky ones for dry skin.
Moisturiser
You can go for the brand that suits you best but make sure that your moisturiser has SPF 15 or 20, and that it gives you both UVA and UVB protection. Apply it all over your face and on your neck and chest.
Night time treatment
Use a hydrating fluid or an oil-free moisturiser. Many dermatologists recommend starting on the vitamin A-derivative prescription retinoids — the gold standard for reducing fine lines, stimulating collagen, and treating acne — or products containing the less potent, over-the-counter retinol.
Before bed, apply a pea-size amount all over your face and right up under your eyes. If you do so them there is no need for an eye cream.
