Spielberg to present Oscar

LOS ANGELES: Legendary Hollywood movie director and producer Steven Spielberg will join the line-up of Oscar presenters at this month’s awards ceremony.

Spielberg, himself a previous Oscar winner, will join a growing number of stars who signed up to hand out cinema’s highest awards at a glittering ceremony in Hollywood on February 29.

The 57-year movie mogul won best picture and directing Oscars in 1993 for his acclaimed

Nazi drama Schindler’s List, as well as a directing Oscar for Saving Private Ryan in 1998.

In 1986, he was honoured with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences prestigious Irving G Thalberg Memorial Award, which is given to a movie maker for a lifetime of work.

He also won three Oscar nominations for his global blockbusters Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Raiders of the Lost Ark and E.T. The Extraterrestrial.
