St Xavier’s College boosts creativity

A‘SET’ of exuberant students of the St Xavier’s College organised an exhibition on Social service, Environment and Technology (SET) within the college premises on Saturday, January 31. A council of 19 students organised the programme to create awareness among people on the theme.
“Social Service, Environment and Technology has become a platform where students can put theoretical knowledge into practise,” said Saroj Regmi, president of SET council. He added that the event has become a bridge between textbooks and real-life situations.
Sixty-two stalls were put up by students on different projects relating to the theme, each brilliantly portraying the subject handled. The Council had also invited guests to put up stalls. Blue Diamond Society was one among them. Along with the Society, Sachdeva and Orbit Coms also hosted talk programmes.
Donating clothes and money to the St Xavier’s Social Centre is another motive in the young minds. “The money we collect from guests will go to the donation box for the poor and needy,” voiced SET vice president Shirish Regmi. A SET magazine was also launched by Father Waterin, chairman of St Xavier’s. Saroj Regmi informed that this kind of event is organised every year and this was the ninth year.
He also said that they come up with new topics every year for the programme. “This year we have planned to call it a technology year,” he said. To encourage students, the Council has awarded certificates and prizes to the best stalls. For Environment to’Indigenous pest management through natural resources’, for Social Service:’Vision in darkness’, and for Technology:’Gamers synapse: Extreme experience’.
