Stars alone don’t decide characteristics
Yes, I do believe in horoscopes because most of my characters are exactly the same as written in horoscope books and sometimes, my sun sign prediction for the day is also correct. Apart from the stars, our hard work and the environment that we are brought up in also influence our characters and personal traits. So, the judgment of others on the basis of sun sign sounds to be quite
unscientific, hence I
believe that sun sign is only a catalyst that acts in our work and success.

Sun signs in some way do affect our basic nature and attitude. But I don’t believe that it predicts your life and its happenings. Big dreams always create big results but restricting yourself thinking “I can’t do it” will not help. You must realise the fact that you have the ability to be a winner. Just because you are fiery Aries doesn’t mean that you can fight
and lead or if you are a quiet Piscean, you will keep yourself away from rest of the world. Extraordinary people are simply ordinary people only that they do extraordinary things. Chances are that you read your horoscope in the morning about a lovely day at office and
then you face a killing problem at your workplace. Don’t complain about your circumstances and blame others rather make a decision that you are person worthy of your goals.
— Reema Bhatia, Balkumari, Kathmandu
I was born on March 2 so my zodiac sign is Pisces, but my characters, personal traits and prediction for the day doesn’t match with that of Pisces.
According to the Hindu zodiac (moon sign), my zodiac sign is Gemini and my characters and personal traits match with that of a Gemini. At times the prediction for the day also comes true. So I believe in zodiac signs of the Hindu system. But I can’t judge other people only on the basis of their zodiac signs because apart from zodiac signs there are many direct and indirect factors that influence the character of a person.

Everyday I read my horoscope prediction in the newspapers. If you ask about the characteristics of certain zodiac signs I don’t know much. But, my characteristics match that of my zodiac sign so I do believe in it. Although I like to express my thoughts, words do not seem to come because of my shy and soft-spoken nature and I tend to underestimate my abilities with the fear of failure and this matches with the characteristics of my zodiac sign.
— Mikesh Shrestha
Because of science and technology superstitions and many other ancient beliefs are abridged day by day, in spite of that I believe in astrology. It is a kind of science as well as a unique subject. In this world everyone wonders what is the relation between their birth and their destiny. They even believe that their destiny is decided by their birth date, birth time etc. I read my horoscope ev-ery morning and most of the time the predictions about my day comes true. But there are times when it doesn’t make any sense at all, but still believe in astrology.
— Pradip Parajuli
Being an Aquarian, I am friendly, shy yet talkative, wacky, both introvert aswell as extrovert, kind and caring. Similarly, I love being a leader, I change rules, I move on to a different path so the ones who want to do that later can do it without any difficulty, I am absent minded, I am very bad at personal relationships and I love freedom. My sun sign states that I am intelligent and knowing this helps me a lot. So, trust me, sun signs are good to believe in, they let us know how good we are even if we aren’t, they also tell us that we are not that perfect and thus help us to be a better human being!
— Stuti Wagle
We love alluring ourselves with fantasies. No doubt some part of us loves to escape form reality. Life eases up making castles in the air. And that is what things like horoscope are capable of doing. In a way, it determines to prepare a certain path for you to move on. It is a good stimuli for uncertain future, don’t you think so? But still, it’s quite absurd to think that the movement of the planets in space far away determines our destiny. Not a single thing works as it is written in the horoscope. So it is nothing more than time pass. There are certain personal traits that are associated with each zodiac sign. That means there was supposed to be only twelve types of people with twelve types of ideology. But what we see around is a complete contrast. So it’s just a parable, just to fool ourselves for a certain period of time and nothing more.
— Billy Williams
My zodiac sign is Capricorn. Books as well as some people, who believe in astrology, say that Capricorns are the ultimate winners at the end. And with this belief, I perform my work with a true spirit. The stuff written in our horoscope makes us feel happy or sad and with the respective spirit we perform our work and achieve our results. Believing in horoscope is not bad but sometimes it just makes you weak and a victim of failure when you are not supposed to succumb to it.
— Shweta Bhattarai, Baneshwor
Yes, I believe in horoscopes, but not much. I haven’t bought horoscope books but I only look at my horoscope in the newspapers. I certainly don’t know much about zodiac signs but I think the horoscope predictions matches with my day. I feel relieved when I see five stars in the horoscope.
— Riya Shakya
Some people usually believe that people born under their respective zodiac signs have certain characteristics and personality traits bestowed by the stars. People buy horoscope books to know more about themselves and others. But I don’t believe in it because horoscope gives information about future, but human beings do not have the power to see the future. The daily horoscope predictions in different media are not similar to each other. So, we can’t know which is the correct one. That’s why I don’t believe in horoscopes.
— Rahul Bajracharya, Lazimpat
Believing in sun signs is an old tradition. I believe in my work rather than on horoscopes and I labour my best and give 100 per cent. Most people start their day by reading sun sign predictions in newspapers. But I never read my horoscope. I like to start my day in my own style. I don’t want to be someone who spends his/her life directed by sun signs. I perform my activities as I can and mostly the results are tasteful as well.
— Alisha Shakya
I don’t believe in zodiac signs because I believe in my own work. I believe that everything goes well if we have self-confidence and satisfaction in what we do. It is said that “god helps those who help themselves” which means if we believe in our work, we can even bring our future under our control.
— Dev Raj Adhikary, Nepaltar
I used to believe in zodiac signs. In the past, I used to turn up the volume of FM station when it used to air horoscopes. One of the priests I knew made several predictions and assurances regarding my life. However, no predictions and assurances have come true yet. Now I have no faith in it. I don’t think it is good to buy horoscope books and waste time on it because if the horoscope books say something bad is going to happen, then people worry unnecessarily.
— Rebati Adhikary.
No, I do not believe in zodiac signs. It is a kind of superstition. I have neither faced any problems nor good things in my life according to what zodiac signs predict. Sometimes it happens according to the forecast. But I don’t believe it, for it is purely coincidence.
— Simaran Thapa
People are not what they really are, they change themselves to show a good hold on the society, and horoscopes are just a small step for that. Whenever I look for my sun sign I always go for the best part of it, some of the words might be pleasing enough to show me the path of danger but then I believe I can pass that. According to my sun sign I am positive thinker, person who argues frequently and a best friend for children. I am not like that all the time. More importantly I don’t exactly believe on horoscopes.
— Sulochana Rai,
Lazimpat
I believe in star signs partially. I often read horoscopes published in newspapers. If it says my day will be perfect then I believe in it. If it says my day may be bad day, then I ignore it. I start my day by observing number of stars in the paper. If there are five stars then my day starts afresh and I am encouraged to work better. But if there are less number of stars then I ignore saying I don’t believe in it.
— Salima Tuladhar
Time and again I am compelled to believe in horoscopes and some other times things just go haywire rather than as predicted. Sometimes whatever good is written never happens, but anything written bad for the day happens as it is foretold. So I believe in horoscopes for the bad events in the day. And as for the good stuff, horoscope is nothing more than fool’s paradise.
I don’t think that personal traits are related to sun sign. Personal traits completely rely on the environment that a person is living in. It completely depends upon the people you are associated with and the people you spend your time with.
— Prabin Shrestha
It is not certain that people develop their characteristics according to their sun sign. Two people born under same zodiac sign may have different fates and characters as per the environment they live in. People can also change as per their desire if they are determined enough to do so. According to my sun sign I have a very shy, absent-minded and moody nature but I haven’t got such characters any more because I tried hard getting rid of it and now I am entirely a different person.
— Puja
It would be absolutely wrong to make any comment on or against something that I do not know anything about. However, I do have some personal experiences. On that ground I would say that believing in horoscope means misguiding ourselves. According to my natal chart, my zodiac sign is Taurus. Once I read horoscope books the one matching to my zodiac sign. As I went through the book I found there was no match in my characteristic traits with the one described in the book.
— Eklaxmi Nepal
Most of the people in this world believe in the zodiac signs. However there are some that may not, and I am one of them. A great question over here is, does your day of birth rule your life? It is only our belief. The most important things are hard work, punctuality and honesty in an individual which will bring fruitful results rather than believing in zodiac signs.
— Abhinay & Amrit
Astrological signs do reveal a lot about one’s personality. Astrology is a vast subject - sun signs, moon signs, the element one belongs to- all affect one’s personality in one way or the other. In my case, my typical Gemini trait is that I enjoy variety, get bored easily with one thing, and also that I am flexible and easily adaptable. But unlike a Gemini, I am not much talkative, that’s where my moon sign comes in, as a Scorpion, I tend to be quiet, yet forceful at times. But, I also believe, though the stars do have to do influence one’s personality traits, a person character can only be built by himself and the environment s/he grows up in.
— Rhea Gurung, Shital Marg, Maharajgung
The general belief is that our zodiac signs determines our characteristics traits. But there are certain points that propel me to think opposite to that general belief. If zodiac signs were to determine a person’s characteristics then there would have been similarities in the thinking, outlook and behaviour among the people having the same sign. I have seen people having same sign but having different characters. There are innumerable instances where some people are leading a luxurious life while others are living in the streets despite their being born under the same sign. Thus I believe it is the actions and deeds of a person that determines our characteristics traits rather than the zodiac sign itself. Why does the thinking, outlook and behaviour of people differ from each other? It is mainly because of the kind of job s/he is involved with and the kind of association they have.

Zodiac signs are based on astrology which is adherent to spiritual beliefs. Being a spiritual person I believe in astrology. In addition, it is based on intricate mathematics that takes geniuses and their infallible efforts. Earth, which is one of the nine planets where we sustain our divine lives, is a miracle. And astrology considers other planets and even more astonishing constellations, too whereby we can correlate our lives with the miraculous existence of the universe. So there is some point in believing in sun signs.
My sun sign is Aquarius and it says “I’m afraid to have close ties with anyone” and that is aptly true. Also I’m compassionate and sensitive to others’ suffering, which also matches my zodiac prediction.
— Astha Karanjit,
Kathmandu
I don’t believe in sun signs. If the events written in the horoscope comes true then we must know, that it is just a coincidence. I don’t have any characteristics that match with my sun sign. During the day I remember the things that’s going to happen and the suggestions given in horoscope and I tend to do exactly what’s written there which makes me think that it has come true. I think it’s the same with all of us. That is why I don’t believe in horoscopes.
