Stars on the guest list
NEW DELHI: Former US president Bill Clinton will be among a string of celebrities attending
a lavish wedding of the son of a New York-based hotelier in New Delhi this weekend, reports said on February 15.
Others expected to attend the glittering marriage of Vikram Chatwal and fashion model Priya Sachdev are British supermodel Naomi Campbell, American hip-hop mogul Diddy and hotel heiress Paris Hilton, DNA and other papers said.
The celebrations started on Valentine’s Day with a party at a five-star hotel in the Mumbai, attended by Bollwyood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta. Among other guests were Britain-based businessman Srichand Hinduja and British actress Elizabeth Hurley’s Indian boyfriend Arun Nayar.
Some guests then flew to scenic lake city Udaipur in Rajasthan in a chartered aircraft for the next stage of celebrations.
The wedding, due to take place on February 19 in the Indian capital, is being billed as the most lavish Indian affair since the 2004 wedding of steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal’s daughter, on which he reportedly spent nearly $60 million. The Mittal bash included a five-day party in Paris with a performance by Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue and a ceremony at the Palace of Versailles.
The seven-day Chatwal extravaganza is being spread over three cities and guests are reportedly being transported by private jets. Chatwal, 34, whose father Sant Chatwal owns Hampshire Hotels and Resorts and the Bombay Palace chain of restaurants in the US, and who is himself a hotelier, has also acted in a few Bollwyood films. His bride-to-be made her debut in Bollywood last year with a minor role.
