Students hold photo expo

KATHMANDU:

The Second Journalism Students’ Photo Exhibition started on April 3 at the Nepal Art Council. It was opened amidst a programme that was attended by professional photographers Sharad Rai, Narendra Shrestha, Dhruba Ale and Nayan Tara Gurung Kakshapati, and students from various colleges.

Following our country’s tradition of never starting anything on time, this exhibition was no different as it began an hour late. And though one can understand adolescent enthusiasm and their carefree attitude, a little more decorum could have been maintained by the students as this was a programme which can lead them to their future careers — at least when seniors and professionals were speaking and sharing views.

The exhibition is organised by National Photography and sponsored by Photo Concern Pvt Ltd. National Photography had conducted a training for students in 27 colleges and the best three from each college was selected. These selected students were given further training and their work have been put on display.

A total of 91 photos are on display taken by 75 students of Class XII studying Mass Communication. Photos related to various topics from daily life to festivals, temples, scenery and some which make you stand and think awhile are all there.

The top three winners will be selected by professional photographers. There is also a Visitors Choice for people to choose their favourite photographs and decide their winners. Besides this all the participants will be given a token of appreciation for their efforts.

The exhibition is open till April 7, and the winners will be declared then.
