Super lice invading UK hair

A new breed of head louse looks to be invading Britain’s hair, as it seems the pesky bugs can now beat the lotions we use to get rid of them. According to a study, nearly nine out of 10 cases of lice can’t be solved with shampoos any more.

Four million children suffer from an attack of lice each year in England alone, so it’s nothing to be ashamed of. The bugs might be growing stronger, but the government says you can still get rid of them by using a special comb.

One in five kids have lice each year. About 10 lice live on each head. Lice can last for a few weeks, so it’s important to keep up the combing until all the bugs and eggs have been found. Lice spread around schools because there are lots of heads in a small place for them to live in.
