The Police to reunite for Grammys
LOS ANGELES: Iconic 1980s rock band The Police are to reunite to open the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on February 11.
The announcement by the Recording Academy follows months of speculation that the band would reunite for a tour later this year to mark the 30th anniversary of the release of their signature hit Roxanne. The three-man band, comprising Sting, drummer Stewart Copeland and guitarist Andy Summers, have remained on good terms despite an acrimonious split in 1984 .
The band is a five-time Grammy winner and its other hits include Message in a Bottle and Every Breath You Take. “The Police join a stellar list of past Grammy Awards opening acts, which includes reunions and once-in-a-lifetime performances,” said a statement from the academy.
