The year 2006
Another wonderful year has come to an end-the year that had its share of both happiness and sorrow. The year was so important for all of us as we saw a lot of ups and downs in our lives and country.
Looking back at the year 2006, I’d like to start with the days I was busy preparing for the SLC examinations. At that time I didn’t even realize when the year 2005-bid adieu and the year 2006 arrived. Then came the big day when I actually appeared for the long awaited exams. That was followed by the revolution that changed the fate of our country, hopefully for the best. After that the anxiety for the result started which ended when the result was out after a prolonged delay. Fortunately the results were not that bad after all!! Well then started the hustle and bustle to get into a nice college. After the admission there was the longing to get adjusted with the completely new environment and a new people.
It is strange, how the year had started with friends and teachers of the school I studied for 13 years. But it has ended with friends and teachers I have barely known in couple of months. Yet, I have hope and I welcome the year 2007 with my arms and heart wide open. Each passing year makes all of us older, mature and more experienced. I definitely would not label the year 2006 as the best year of my life however it is a memorable period of my life. I don’t think I’ll ever forget this year. It will always remain in the golden pages of my memories.
So, this was what the year 2006 had brought for me and I’m sure all of us have our own stories of joys and pain. Now looking forward to the year that’s just started, I hope the best is in the offing for our country and all of us. We all have new resolutions, new plans, new dreams and new hopes for the New Year. At this time I take the opportunity to wish all of you a very “HAPPY NEW YEAR 2007”. As for me, this year, I aim to do something different and productive. Something that I usually would hesitate to do. So that I can say this with a sigh.
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
and that has made the difference.
