TV show flop: Lesson for Mariah-Nick

Mariah Carey husband Nick Cannon learned not to spend money he doesn't have after a TV pilot he was sure would be a hit failed to make it to the small screen.

Cannon wrote and starred in the Will Smith-produced Loose Cannon and was preparing for fame and the big time in 2001 - when the show failed to impress studio bosses.

The rapper/actor admits he went on a spending spree, confident the show would be a big hit - and he'd be "the next Will Smith".

He tells Giant magazine, "I'm buying Range Rovers, had a crib (house) in the Hollywood Hills. Then the show didn't get picked up."
