Tyler born to help victims of sexual abuse
LOS ANGELES: American rock band Aerosmith’s frontman Steven Tyler feels he was “born” to help victims of sexual abuse. Tyler, who penned a song called Janie’s Got A Gun with Aerosmith in 1989 about a girl who shoots her father to end his sexual abuse, is glad to be working with his foundation Janie’s Fund, which provides resources to victims of abuse.
“I think this is what I was born to do... I didn’t know who Janie was or why she had a gun but seven out of 10 girls that came through that facility had suffered from physical or sexual abuse. It was staggering. That’s where the rest of the lyrics came from,” Tyler told people.com. “I want to bring attention to these poor girls so they can get help before it’s too late,” he added.
