KATHMANDU: “We didn’t know Valentine’s Day is celebrated so big here and are really looking forward to it,” said Jaco, Stu and Marloes from the band Poesie and the Fags from the Netherlands who will be performing at Hotel Yak and Yeti on February 14 for their special event ‘Cupid Calling’.

Describing their music Marleos said, “Our music is basically one that’s easy to listen to. It’s soulful music combined with jazz and pop music.”

They play cover versions but transform it giving it a totally new sound. “Though people do recognise the songs, they can’t exactly place them,” said Jaco.

And there are a few which they feel are better than the originals. For Valentine’s Day they have quite a selection of all time favourites ranging from the ‘60s to the latest hit numbers. “Most of our songs are going to ballads, and along with the decoration, food and costumes we think it’s going to be great,” said Stu. They will be performing at Sunrise Café and The Pub, Yak and Yeti, 6.30-10.30 pm.
