Vatsala is Miss India Worldwide Nepal
KATHMANDU: Beauty and brains are no more a rare combination. Nepalis Council on March 6 organised the first Ctv Mobile Miss India Worldwide Nepal Pageant 2010 at Radisson Hotel. The main purpose of the event was to promote the relationship between India and Nepal and support a charitable cause for children.
Twelve beautiful girls of Indian origin who were brought up in Nepal participated in the event which was judged by Dr Poonam Rana, Kamala Shrestha, Baba Sarkar, Apoorva Srivastav and Ayusha Shrestha.
Vatsala Sharma bagged the title of Miss India Worldwide Nepal Pageant 2010 and also won Miss Beautiful Skin. Aiman Khan was declared the first runner-up, while Mangolika Chakroborty became the second runner-up. Chakroborty also bagged titles like Miss Friendship and Miss Talented, meanwhile Anjali Dutta was awarded Miss Beautiful Hair and Shagun Baluda won Miss Photogenic.
The contestants opened the show by walking down the stage with Nepal and India’s flag in hand carrying the message of friendship between the two countries. The event also showcased Charya dance in Bajrapali form, Bhojpuri dance, Bharatnatyam, Newari dance and some modern dances in numbers like Kajraree and Ek pal ka jina. Swayambhu Ratna Shakya entertained the crowd by singing Jun sukai badal ma.
Talent was the common factor among all the contestants. Eight finalists gave an example of their talent where Baluda thrilled the audience with a baby act.
The question and answer round was filled with witty answers from the five semi finalists. The spontaneous and smart answers from the finalists put the judges in dilemma as to who should win the title.
The winner of the pageant, Sharma will participate in Miss India Worldwide to be held in Durban, South Africa on March 27.
