Walking towards brighter future

KATHMANDU: With an initiative to bring about change in society, the Standard Chartered Bank Nepal is all set with its annual fund raising walkathon.

The 6th annual Standard Chartered Walkathon 2008 — A Walk for a Brighter Future that is scheduled to take place on November 14 will see around 400 participants which will include the staff, members of the organisation and 40 visually challenged students from the Technical and Skill Development Centre for Blind and Disabled in Kirtipur.

A certain amount of the funds generated from the event will be used for the global initiative of the Standard Chartered group named ‘Seeing is Believing’.

The rest of the amount will go towards HIV, environment, education and other health-related sectors.

This year the organisation aims to carry out at least 1,000 cataract surgeries and free check-ups of around 6,000 OPD patients through 15 eye camps in the outskirts of the Valley.

The walkathon will begin from the head office of the bank at New Baneshwor and will end at the Lazimpat branch.
