Weekend brunch: Chirstmas cookies
It’s the Saturday before Christmas so perhaps you’ll be in the mood to bake some Christmas cookies. Here’s a simple recipe, which any of us will be able to follow.
You’ll need
•1/2 cup butter
•1 cup sugar
•3 eggs
•3 1/2 cups flour (maida)
•1 teaspoon baking soda
•2 teaspoons vanilla essence
Directions
Cream together butter and sugar.
Add the eggs and blend well.
Sift together flour and soda and stir into the creamed mixture.
Stir in vanilla.
Chill the dough thoroughly.
Roll chilled dough out on a lightly floured surface and cut with cookie cutters.
Place on baking sheets and bake at 425° for 6-8 minutes.
Makes about six dozen Christmas cookies.
Bake with coloured sugar or decorate with your favorite cookie icing
