The newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Zhang Maoming, paid a courtesy call on Chairperson of the National Assembly of Nepal, Narayan Prasad Dahal, today.

During the meeting held at Chairperson Dahal's office in Singha Durbar, the two discussed a range of issues including bilateral relations, parliamentary cooperation, mutual assistance, and other contemporary matters.

Referring to the long-standing ties between Nepal and China, Chairperson Dahal stated that relations between the two countries are strong and deep-rooted, not only at the diplomatic level but also at the people-to-people level.

He also noted that the process of forming a new government is underway following the completion of the election to the House of Representatives of Nepal held on March 5.

The NA Chairperson further appreciated China's support to Nepal's development, according to Dahal's Secretariat.

On the occasion, Ambassador Zhang stated that friendly relations based on mutual interests have been maintained since the establishment of diplomatic ties between Nepal and China. He added that collaboration and cooperation between the two countries have increased significantly, and bilateral relations have reached new heights following the exchange of presidential visits between the two nations.

Secretary of the National Assembly Tul Bahadur Kandel, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, the Federal Parliament Secretariat of Nepal, and representatives of the Embassy of China in Nepal were also present at the meeting.
