KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 15
After staying for over four months, this year's monsoon finally started to withdraw from the country from today onwards from the eastern part of the country.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division, issuing a notice today, said the monsoon that entered Nepal on June 5 from western Nepal started to withdraw from today.
Normally, the monsoon lasts for 105 days inside the country. But it lasted for over 130 days this year. In the previous years, November-end was considered the end of monsoon season.
Meteorologists officially recognise October 2 as the end date of monsoon. However, this time around, the post-monsoon rain that began from early October was heavy as monsoon lasted for 15 days more, creating havoc particularly in the western part of the country.
Complete withdrawal of the monsoon will take a few more days, as per the MFD, which is likely to cause light to moderate rain in the eastern parts of Nepal.
According to the MFD, the weather across the country will be generally fair in the coming days as the influence of monsoon air has become weaker in Nepal.
The partly cloudy weather of the hilly areas of the country, including Karnali Province, which saw heavy rainfall until a few days ago, is likely to continue in the next couple of days. However, the weather will be clear in the night.
Today, Kathmandu valley witnessed sunny morning and cloudy evening like in most part of the country.
Meanwhile, places around the country, including Kathmandu valley, has witnessed the gradual decline in the mercury level. The temperature will continue to drop in the days to come, as per the MFD the country will officially enter winter season from December 1.
