The Meteorological Forecasting Division has said that the hilly and Himalayan regions of the country will remain generally cloudy on Sunday, with chances of rain and snowfall in several areas.

According to the MFD, moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in the hilly and Himalayan regions, particularly in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. The Terai region is expected to remain partly cloudy.

During the night, the hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces are forecast to remain generally cloudy, while the Terai will see mainly fair weather. Light rain or snowfall is likely at one or two places in these regions.

Meteorologists said the current weather pattern is influenced by a western low-pressure system combined with local winds.

In the Kathmandu Valley, moderate rain with thundershowers is expected during the day, with maximum temperatures ranging between 21°C and 23°C and a 60 percent chance of rainfall. At night, light rain with thunderstorms is forecast, with temperatures dropping to between 12°C and 14°C and a 40 percent chance of precipitation.
