KATHMANDU, MARCH 21

With much of the day already underway, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast unsettled weather conditions for the remaining hours, with rain, thunderstorms and windstorms likely in several parts of the country.

According to the latest 24-hour outlook issued this morning, the weather will remain mostly cloudy nationwide through the afternoon and evening. Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder, lightning, hail and gusty winds is likely in many places of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, as well as in some areas of Karnali and a few locations in Sudurpashchim.

The department has also warned of heavy rainfall at one or two places in Koshi, Madhesh and Lumbini provinces later in the day.

As the day progresses into evening and night, cloudy conditions are expected to persist in Koshi, Madhesh and Bagmati provinces, along with hilly and mountainous regions elsewhere. The remaining Terai areas are likely to see partly cloudy skies.

There remains a chance of light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning in parts of Koshi Province and in some high-altitude areas of other provinces, including Madhesh and Bagmati, while isolated showers are also possible in the hilly regions.

Meteorologists said the current weather pattern is influenced by a western low-pressure system combined with local wind activity.

In the Kathmandu Valley, moderate rain with thundershowers is expected during the remaining daytime hours, with temperatures ranging between 19 and 21 degrees Celsius and an 80 percent chance of rainfall. Light rain with thunderstorms is likely tonight, with temperatures dropping to 10–12 degrees Celsius.
