Sudurpashchim could face very heavy rainfall tonight, with one or two places in the province's hilly and Terai areas expected to receive intense rain, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.

The division has also forecast heavy rainfall at one or two places in the hills of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as the Terai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim.

Across the country, generally cloudy conditions will prevail on Sunday. Moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at many places in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim, and at some places in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.

Moderate rain and thunderstorms are also expected at many places in the Terai of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim, with some areas of Bagmati and Gandaki and a few places in Madhesh and the Koshi Terai also likely to receive rain.

The forecast suggests the wet conditions will continue into the night, particularly in western Nepal, with moderate rain or snowfall possible in some Himalayan areas.

The department said the monsoon is currently influencing the entire country. The monsoon trough is around its average position in eastern Nepal but lies north of its average position in the west, close to Nepal.

In the Kathmandu Valley, moderate rain with thunderstorms is forecast, with temperatures ranging from 28–30°C during the day and 20–22°C at night.

Among the major cities, Nepalgunj, Bhairahawa and Janakpur are forecast to reach 33–35°C, 33–35°C and 34–36°C, respectively. Simara could reach 34–36°C.

Pokhara is expected to see moderate rain with thunderstorms, with a maximum temperature of 30–32°C, while Jomsom is forecast to remain considerably cooler at 23–25°C.
