Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the hilly areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces on Thursday, while moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected at several places across the country, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The department said generally cloudy conditions will prevail in the Himalayan and hilly regions, as well as the Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces. Other Terai areas are expected to remain partly cloudy.

Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in the Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki. Light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is expected at one or two places in the Himalayan areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim.

In the hilly areas, moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely at some places in Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki, while light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning, accompanied by hail, is likely at a few places in Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim.

Moderate rain with thunder and lightning is also likely at a few places in Madhesh and the Terai areas of Koshi, and at one or two places in the Terai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim.

Pokhara is also expected to receive moderate rain with thundershowers, with daytime temperatures of 26°C to 28°C.

Elsewhere, Janakpur is forecast to record temperatures of 31°C to 33°C, Simara 30°C to 32°C and Bhairahawa 29°C to 31°C.

Jomsom is expected to see light rain with thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 17°C to 19°C during the day and 7°C to 9°C at night.

The department has advised residents in areas likely to receive heavy rainfall to remain alert to possible weather-related hazards.
