KATHMANDU, JUNE 20

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast partly to generally cloudy skies across the country today, with light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning likely in several areas.

Rain is expected at some places in the hilly regions and a few locations elsewhere. Heavy rainfall is possible at one or two places in Koshi Province, Bagmati Province, and Gandaki Province. There are also chances of light snowfall in some areas of the high mountainous region, and gusty winds may occur in parts of the Terai regions of Koshi and Madhesh Provinces.

Tonight, similar conditions will persist, with partly to generally cloudy skies and light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning likely in hilly areas and a few other parts of the country. Heavy rainfall is also possible in isolated locations of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces, along with chances of light snowfall in high mountain areas.

Weather in Kathmandu Valley

The Kathmandu Valley is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers throughout the day. There is a 60% chance of rainfall during the day, and similar conditions are likely to continue into the night, with another 60% chance of rain.

Current Weather System

At present, the monsoon wind is active over parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and eastern Lumbini Provinces. The western region of Nepal is experiencing a partial influence of westerly and local winds, while a low-pressure system near West Bengal, India, is also having a partial impact on Nepal's weather.
