KATHMANDU, JULY 18

The skies across Nepal will remain partly to generally cloudy today, with chances of heavy rainfall in one or two places in the Koshi, Bagmati, and Sudurpaschim provinces, according to the Meteorological Forecast Division (MFD).

The MFD also predicted light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some areas of the Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces. This weather pattern is likely to occur in a few places across the rest of the country as well.

As night falls, the MFD anticipates the continuation of this weather pattern, with heavy rain also expected in the Madhesh province tonight.

In the past 24 hours, Kathmandu recorded 49 mm of rainfall, second only to Dipayal, which experienced 51.6 mm of rainfall.

The country is currently under the influence of monsoon winds, with the monsoon low-pressure line situated south of its average location.

Issuing a weather forecast bulletin on Thursday morning, the MFD urged residents of the Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces to remain alert to potential monsoon-related disasters, as heavy rainfall is likely in the next 24 hours.
