KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 7

Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the hilly and Terai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces and the hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces on Wednesday, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

Generally cloudy conditions will prevail in the Himalayan and hilly areas, while the Terai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim will remain generally cloudy. The remaining Terai areas will see partly cloudy conditions.

Moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, windstorms and hail is likely at a few places in the Himalayan areas and some places in the hills. Similar conditions are expected at some places in the Terai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim and a few places in Madhesh and the Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

Tonight, generally cloudy conditions will prevail throughout Sudurpashchim and in the Himalayan and hilly areas, while the Terai areas will remain partly cloudy. Mist or fog is likely in the Terai during the morning hours.

Light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is likely at one or two places in the Himalayan areas tonight. Moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected at a few places in the hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpashchim and at one or two places in the hills of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini.

Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is also likely at one or two places in Madhesh and the Terai areas of Koshi, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim.

The department said the country is currently under the influence of a westerly low-pressure system along with monsoon winds.

In the Kathmandu Valley, moderate rain with thundershowers is forecast, with temperatures ranging from 25–27°C during the day and 16–18°C at night. Pokhara is expected to receive moderate rain with thundershowers, with a maximum temperature of 27–29°C.

Temperatures are forecast to reach 31–33°C in Bhairahawa, 32–34°C in Simara and Biratnagar, 31–33°C in Dharan and 31–33°C in Janakpur. Jomsom is expected to remain generally cloudy, with temperatures of 18–20°C during the day and 7–9°C at night.

Dadeldhura, Dipayal, Dhangadhi, Birendranagar, Nepalgunj, Jumla, Ghorahi and Jiri are also likely to receive moderate rain with thundershowers during the day.
