Bajura, June 14

Sanphe-Martadi road section in Bajura has been obstructed since this morning due to landslides in different places following continuous rainfall.

Transportation service and people's movement along the road section have been affected due to landslides.

DSP Madanjit Mahara of Bajura District Police Office said transportation service was obstructed after the road caved-in due to landslides at Barjugard and Taprisera of Budhiganga Municipality, Paninaula, Balde, Aamkot and Tipada among other places of Badimalika Municipality.

DSP Mahara added that the Martadi-Kolti and Sera-Aantichaur road sections have also been obstructed due to landslides. Police said they were trying hard to clear the road obstruction, but incessant rainfall had created difficulty.

Landslides occurred in more than 15 places of the Sanphe-Martadi road on the border of Achham and Bajura.

Sushil Thapa, a local said people could not even walk from one place to another.

Transportation service was also obstructed. The Sanphe-Martadi road section has been obstructed with the onset of monsoon every year, but the authorities have done precious little to find a permanent solution to the problem.

Civil Society leader Sher Bahadur Shahi said the authority concerned had paid no attention despite frequent requests.

According to Sanphebagar Division Office, Bajura, there is no option but to find an alternative route.

The road obstruction due to landslides has happened at the same spot of the road section for the last three years. The road section is at high risk of caving in. Roads have been obstructed in Martadi, Bajura's northern part, Humla and Mugu.
