KATHMANDU, JANUARY 22

Westerly winds are expected to bring changes in weather starting Friday. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, cloud cover will increase across the country from Friday afternoon.

Significant weather changes are likely to be felt in the western belt of the country, where conditions are expected to range from cloudy to moderately rainy and snowy. The western region of Nepal is forecast to experience persistent cloudiness, rainfall, and snowfall.

Meteorologist David Dhakal from the Department stated that cloud formations will spread from west to east on Friday and Saturday, bringing light rainfall to some areas of Sudurpaschim Province.

Moderate snowfall is also forecast in several high-hill and mountainous regions across the country. Dhakal further noted that Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces are likely to receive moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.

Hailstorms may also occur in a few locations. Although weather conditions are expected to improve on Saturday, lingering cloud cover is likely to cause a drop in temperatures nationwide.

The Department has urged the public, as well as agencies involved in health, tourism, and aviation services, to stay informed about weather updates and remain vigilant.
