Weather to remain generally cloudy across western provinces; Kathmandu to see brief showers

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 7

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has forecast generally cloudy conditions across most of the country today, with chances of moderate rainfall and thunderstorms in several provinces.

According to the Department, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, along with the hilly regions of other provinces, will remain mostly cloudy, while the rest of the country will see partly cloudy skies.

There is a likelihood of moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly and Terai regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, and at isolated places in the hilly regions of other provinces. The forecast also indicates a possibility of snowfall at a few high-altitude locations in Karnali and Sudurpaschim.

For tonight, generally cloudy conditions are expected in Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, with moderate rain and thunder possible at some hilly areas.

In Kathmandu Valley, the day will remain mostly cloudy with brief rain or thundershowers, with maximum temperatures ranging between 26°C and 28°C and a 30 percent chance of rainfall. Tonight's minimum temperature is expected to be between 17°C and 19°C, with about 20 percent chance of showers.

The DHM noted that western atmospheric systems are currently influencing weather over Sudurpaschim, Karnali, and western Lumbini, while weak monsoon winds continue to affect the rest of the country.
