KATHMANDU, MAY 5

The Meteorological Forecasting Division has said generally cloudy conditions will prevail in the hilly and Himalayan regions of the country today, while the Terai is expected to remain partly cloudy.

According to the Division, light to moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at some places in the hilly regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces, and at a few places elsewhere in the country.

Tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, with partly cloudy conditions in the remaining provinces. Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely at some places in Koshi Province and at a few places in Madhesh and Bagmati provinces as well as in the hilly regions. Light rain or snowfall is also possible at one or two places in other areas.

Nepal is currently under the influence of westerly and local winds, along with a low-pressure system in the lower atmosphere near the eastern region.

Major city forecast

In Kathmandu, light rain with thunderstorms is expected during the day, with temperatures ranging between 24–26°C, while the night is likely to be partly cloudy with temperatures dropping to 13–15°C.

Pokhara is likely to witness moderate rain with thundershowers during the day and light rain at night.

In Biratnagar and Janakpur, light rain with thunderstorms is expected during the day, with moderate rain likely at night.

Other areas, including Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta, Jomsom and Taplejung, are also likely to receive light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms.

The Division has advised the public to remain cautious of possible impacts such as lightning and rainfall, particularly in hilly and mountainous regions.
