KATHMANDU, AUGUST 22

Nepal Police have distributed nearly one million masks free of cost to people in the last four months.

Police had launched the mask distribution campaign on April 19 early this year.

A total of 945,000 masks were distributed to people in a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus.

In the last 24 hours alone, police distributed 15,891 masks free of cost. The safety materials were distributed under the nationwide campaign 'Where is your mask?'

Nepal Police had launched the nationwide awareness campaign in a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus at a time when a new variant of coronavirus has been spreading in the country and abroad. The security agency also raised public awareness on basic health in the face of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, police collected Rs 46,000 in revenue by slapping fines on those violating the lockdown order enforced by the local administration against COVID-19.

Similarly, Nepal police provided counselling to 1,784 people.
