The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has predicted partly to generally cloudy skies across the country today, with a likelihood of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in several provinces.
According to the forecast, rain is likely at some places of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and at a few locations in other provinces. There is a chance of heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
In the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, light snowfall is possible at a few locations, with isolated chances of snowfall in similar regions across the remaining provinces.
Tonight, weather conditions are expected to remain the same-partly to generally cloudy throughout the country, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms likely in the aforementioned provinces. Chances of heavy rain and light snowfall continue into the night.
In the Kathmandu Valley, the MFD has forecast a 60 percent chance of brief rain or thundershowers in the afternoon. Skies will remain partly to generally cloudy through the day, with an 80 percent chance of rain continuing into the night.
The current weather pattern is being influenced by monsoon winds affecting Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and parts of eastern Lumbini. Westerly and local winds are also affecting the weather in the western region of the country.
Residents in areas prone to landslides or flash floods are advised to remain alert.
